sitting in my rocking chair sewing away

watching the awakening of a new day

sounds of birds chattering in the wind

deer wandering around the bend

geese making their usual calling carols

what a wave of energy this new days heralds

not a thought of gloom  nor doom

nor wishing for a lover to make my heart swoon

the world can save itself in this moment of bliss

I am happy stitch after stitch sewing like this

the sun is rising higher in the crystal blue sky

and in the distance I hear a feint haunting cry

what can it be, who can be beckoning me

will it be my knight in blue rescuing me

will it be whispers that make me sigh

or will I sprout wings and fly

closer it comes, it has a familiar ring

maybe a new song for my heart to sing

I wait in the stillness with anticipation

as my mind tumbles into what would be contemplation

closer and closer it comes so near

suddenly the words are perfectly clear

get off your arse, the laundry is waiting to be hung

the dishes are waiting to be done

all before your real job has even begun!
